簡單解釋

analyse 就是把一樣東西拆開，一部分一部分看清楚，再找出它們之間的關係和原因。

只是「描述」發生了甚麼不算 analyse；要說出為甚麼、怎樣、有甚麼含意，才是分析。這也是老師在 essay 評語中常寫 "more analysis needed" 的原因。

記住家族字：analyse（動詞）、analysis（名詞，複數 analyses）、analytical（形容詞）、analyst（分析員）。

analyse 是及物動詞，直接接受詞，不加 about。名詞才說 an analysis of sth。
✗ We did many analysis on the data.
✓ We carried out several analyses of the data.
analysis 的複數是 analyses（讀 /əˈnæləsiːz/）；介詞一般用 of。
✗ I analysised the poem.
✓ I analysed the poem.
動詞是 analyse，過去式是 analysed；analysis 是名詞，不能當動詞變化。
✗ He has a very analyse mind.
✓ He has a very analytical mind.
放在名詞前要用形容詞 analytical。

will analysis about → analyse：動詞用 analyse，不加 about；報告引言用現在式 we analyse 已經足夠。
Our analyse find → our analysis suggests：名詞是 analysis，單數主語配 suggests；用 suggests 比 find 更審慎。
We do a survey and analyse it → We conducted a survey of 120 students：已完成的步驟用過去式，加上樣本數目，報告更具體可信。

近義和相反說法

說法	意思	分別
examine	審視、仔細檢查	同樣是仔細看，但較少強調拆解和解釋原因。
evaluate	評價、評估	不只是分析，還要判斷好壞或價值，DSE 題目常見。
interpret	解讀、詮釋	重點是說出某樣東西的意思，例如解讀數據或詩句。
break down	拆解、細分	口語說法，例如 break down the costs，較少用於正式 essay。

相反：describe (描述（只說發生了甚麼）)、summarise (概括、撮要)

常見問題

analyse 還是 analyze？DSE 用哪個？

analyse 是英式拼法，analyze 是美式拼法，兩者都正確。香港考評局和大部分學校用英式，重點是全篇統一，不要一時 analyse、一時 analyze。

analyse 和 evaluate 在題目中有甚麼分別？

analyse 要求你拆解問題，解釋原因、手法或關係；evaluate 還要你判斷優劣、作出結論，例如 "To what extent…" 類題目。

essay 開首可以寫 "This essay analyses…" 嗎？

可以，這是很常見的學術寫法，例如 "This essay analyses the impact of tourism on local residents." 也可以寫 "This essay will analyse…"，但不要加 about。

analysis 前面要加 a 嗎？

視乎情況。指一次具體的分析可說 an analysis of the data；泛指「分析」這種工作時可以不加，例如 Further analysis is needed.
