Using Dictionify
How do I look up a word?
Double-click a single word, or highlight a phrase or a whole paragraph, on any website in Chrome. A card appears beside it with the meaning in your sentence, the pronunciation and a translation. You can also select text and press Ctrl+Shift+Y (Cmd+Shift+Y on a Mac).
Nothing happens when I double-click a word.
Reload the page after installing or updating the extension. Check that Dictionify is switched on in Settings and that the site isn't in your blocked list; common sign-in, payment and password-manager pages are blocked by default, and so is the keyboard shortcut there. Chrome doesn't let extensions run on its own pages (chrome://…) or the Chrome Web Store.
How do I change the translation language?
Open Dictionify's Settings (right-click the toolbar icon, then Options) and choose a language under “Translate into”. There are 18 built in, or type any other.
Where are my saved words?
Click the Dictionify icon in Chrome's toolbar to open your words list in the side panel. You can search, star, review them as flashcards, and export or import a backup. Your words are stored in your browser, so export a backup before uninstalling.
Plans & billing
What does the free plan include?
10 lookups a day (words, phrases, paragraphs and follow-ups all count), 5 translations and 10 examples or word lists, plus 5 Summaries or Polishes a week. Pronunciation, the word’s own translation, your saved words and flashcards are always free, and looking a word up again on the same site within 30 days doesn’t count. When a limit is reached, the card shows when your free lookups come back (midnight UTC, shown in your local time).
How does the 7-day trial work?
When you sign in with Google you get Pro free for 7 days. The trial needs no credit card and ends by itself; afterwards you're on the free plan unless you choose Pro Monthly or Pro Yearly. One trial per Google account and per browser.
How do I cancel or change my subscription?
Open Dictionify's Settings, go to Account and click “Manage subscription”. You can cancel, switch plan or update your card there. You keep Pro until the end of the period you've paid for.
Can I get a refund?
Yes: email us within 14 days of your first payment for a full refund. See the terms for details. Payments are handled securely by Stripe, which sends your receipt.
Privacy & your account
What does Dictionify send, and where?
Only the words you select, their sentence, and the page’s title and domain name (never the full address), and only when you ask for an explanation. They go to the Dictionify service and its AI provider to write the answer. Read the full privacy policy.
How do I delete my account?
In Dictionify's Settings, go to Account and click “Delete my account”. Any running subscription is cancelled automatically and Pro ends straight away (email us within 14 days of your first payment for a refund). Words saved in your browser are kept until you remove the extension.
